The LP issued in Japan (Warner Bros P-10534W) is almost identical to its United States counterpart, with just a few small differences owing to its having been manufactured in Japan. Most obvious is the colorful red OBI band. The album was issued in Japan on July 25, 1978, a few months after its release in the US, UK, and Canada.
Japan is a natural market for The Rutles. It has a vibrant and enthusiatic Beatles fan base which has been around since the early days of Beatlemania, and Beatles fans there have fervently embraced The Rutles as well.
